Professor Dr. Siwat Pongpiachan, a faculty member, was honored to deliver a lecture at Johns Hopkins University on the Future Earth Thailand initiative, which is part of the global Future Earth program. The initiative focuses on advancing research and knowledge on climate change and environmental issues, with the aim of supporting sustainable development in Thailand by enhancing understanding of the impacts of climate change on society, the economy, and the environment.
Future Earth Thailand promotes interdisciplinary research collaboration across fields such as environmental science, public health, economics, and the social sciences to develop effective solutions to sustainability challenges. The project is supported by funding from PMU-B, which strengthens collaborative networks among researchers, government agencies, and civil society organizations. Through this collaborative effort, the initiative seeks to generate data and strategies that bridge scientific knowledge with societal needs, addressing environmental and climate challenges sustainably in both the Thai and global contexts.
