
Professor Duangduen Bhanthumnavin, Ph. D.
Prof.Dr.Duangduen Bhanthumnavin is the first Thai social psychologist. She received a Thai national scholarship to study in the United States for the levels of Bachelor’s degree and Master's degree. As for her Doctoral degree training in social psychology, she also became research associate at the University of Maryland, College Park. Her first two academic institutions were the University of California, Berkeley and the University of Illinois, Urbana. Her present position is professor at School of Social and Environmental Development, NIDA. She has many significant academic works such as being a member of the National Research Council in Philosophy and later in Sociology. At the present she is in the national committee of Research and Development of the Thai Behavioral System. From empirical results she has offered "a Thai Psycho-moral Behavior Theory", which has beome highly useful for research and development of Thai citizens. Consequently, she was invited to present her work at the Conference of the American Applied Psychology. She has produced two important books on research methodoloy and many researh reports and articles. During her long academic services she has taught and train researchers as well as contructing and evaluating many developmental interventions as well as being a Translational Research Scientist in moral development and work effectiveness. Her work was used as a basis for making a national policy on moral and ethical development of the 0-12 years old. In addition, she was a president of the Thai Psychological Association and was awarded "an outstanding national researcher" and "professor with high ethical standards".
